What a year?! And here we are heading toward the festive season at a rapid pace! Whilst those with loved ones abroad will be sadly missing Christmas reunions, we have to feel blessed to live in this beautiful country we call home, Australia. And if there was any time to look to our own backyard for the Summer of our dreams, this is the time! Fancy overseas holidays and long flights far over oceans are off the cards, but we have a whole summer ahead to take in the sunshine and explore the beaches not so far afield. So whether you’ll be spending the festive season sunning with girlfriends, enjoying sunsets with a lover, fanning your pregnant belly or getting sandy with your kids, Infamous Swim has you covered, all you need is your bikini, one piece, togs, cozzie, swimsuit, rashie, boardshorts, bathers, trunks, swimming costume... or whatever you call your swimwear depending which part of Australia you’re from! Here’s a few of our favourite beaches in our own backyard.
Victoria, Killarney Beach
Not so far from where we call home, is Killarney Beach, around 380km west of Melbourne via the Great Ocean Road, near Port Fairy. We love this spot for its calm protected waters, impressive sand dunes and lack of crowds. A hidden gem, this beach is perfect for families and with so many accommodation options it would be rude not to take a few days here for the summer.

Dreamtime Beach
The East Coast is especially spoilt for choice when it comes to beautiful beaches and options for swimming, surfing, fishing, exploring and just flat out relaxing! Just south of Tweed Heads in Northern NSW, near Fingal Head, is Dreamtime beach, with stretches of fine white sand and lush green foliage, it’s pretty close to paradise.

Sunshine Beach
Just 7km south of Noosa, you’ll escape the crowds and discover Sunshine Beach, one of those quintessentially Australian beaches that looks like it’s endless.
Whether you’re a surf lover (or just a sun and beach lover) you’ll have 15km of sand that stretches all the way down to Peregian Beach for swimming, surfing, sunning and just soaking up summer.

Memory Cove
South Australians seem to have infinite options when it comes to unspoilt and uncrowded beaches. Further afield, 650km south-west of Adelaide and 50km south of Port Lincoln, is Memory Cove. Access to this one is not for the faint hearted, 4 wheel-drive access only through Memory Cove Wilderness Area. The scenery is absolutely stunning and it’s truly one of those never forget Australian experiences, with only 15 vehicles allowed in at any one time, you’re going to feel like you’re on your own private island.

Eagle Bay
Our friend’s on the West Coast have a whole lotta coastline all to themselves! And near perfect summer weather to accompany. Could it get any better than beaches and wineries all in the same proximity? You must go to Eagle Bay, in the Margaret River region. At the start of Meelup Regional Park this glorious beach is a perfect spot for families, with calm waters, safe swimming and plenty of rock pools to explore. Oh, and there’s a winery and brewery just 5 minutes drive for a post swim hydration stop too!

Boat Harbour Beach
We tend to think of our far Southern island State as too cool climate for regular beach days, but a milder summer definitely sounds appealing when it’s scorching in our State. And you really can’t get much more pristine, postcard perfect than the Tasmanian landscape. Boat Harbour Beach is at the foot of Table Cape on the Bass Strait Coast, it is quite an amazing sight to see, a perfectly white stretch of sand lays between black volcanic rock. With water like glass and a beachfront surf club, you’ll be happy to spend the day or two.
